The Best Practices Hub - Vienna is the UN-Habitat's Best Practices Programme's regional and thematic centre established by the City of Vienna in 1999.

Our regional focus is on Central and Eastern Europe. Thematically we focus on urban environmental technologies worldwide.

We collect programmes and projects, potential Best Practices. The experiences, expertise and lessons learned in these programmes are disseminated through workshops, learning seminars, a Newsletter, a database and electronic means.

This site contains Best Practices, recognised by UN-Habitat, direct links to the experts behind the Best Practices, contacts to companies in charge of technical solutions, a database of the City of Vienna's Best Practices, documentation on Best Practices and the accession process of the European Union candidate countries as well as commented links to our partner institutions and other relevant institutions worldwide.

In the news section you will find regularly updated information on issues, such as sustainable development, housing or planning.

We would like to encourage you to submit your experiences to the next round of the Dubai International Award for Best Practices in Improving the Living Environment, UN-Habitat's Best Practices Award sponsored by the Municipality of Dubai.
